Green Seattle Day 2011

Mark your Google calendar, throw an alarm onto your iPhone or put it up as a Facebook event:

November 5th, 2011 the Green Seattle Partnership will sponsor the annual Green Seattle Day from 10am to 2pm in numerous area parks and greenspaces.

If you live in King County, I'm sure there's a park near you with some blackberry that needs grubbed, some ivy that needs pulled and some conifer seedlings that need planted. You can sleep soundly each night knowing that the GSP is here to help make sure that it all gets done. Please hit http://greenseattle.org and register yourself, your extended family, friends, significant other, co-workers, boy scout troop, Amvets hall, barbershop quartet or neighbor for this event (and make sure they show up!). They will have all of the usual accoutrements of a greater Seattle ecological restoration volunteer event: tools, donuts, hot coffee, free t-shirts, hippies, tech professionals, dirty hippies, yuppies, students, smarmy yuppies, dogs, ugly sweaters, children and camaraderie. In all seriousness, the folks at the City of Seattle, Earthcorps and the Cascade Land Conservancy make this a great event every year, so please get down there, lend a hand and have a good time. Dress for the weather and if you see my man Chris LaPointe, tell him to skate hard and to plant those Doug-fir even harder.
