Utah State University Ecology Center Seminar Series 2012-2013

The Ecology Center at the Utah State University has announced their 2012 - 2013 seminar series. In the last half decade this series has featured some of the world's most reputable ecologists, including the likes of Nick Gotelli, Terry Chapin, Jonathan Levine, Susan Galatowitsch and Jayne Belnap. This year's lineup is no different, with USU welcoming a stacked set of speakers to Logan, Utah for two nights each of talks, discussion and networking. The series runs during the academic year, with a Wednesday evening show followed by an off-campus social and a Thursday matinee preceded by a social. The first speaker is Jon Bakker of the University of Washington's School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. His EC talks will focus on parallels between the forests of Washington and Uraguay (Wednesday) and Puget Sound Prairies (Thursday). Be sure to check it out either in-person or remotely:

Each speaker will give two seminars:
• Wednesday (Fall Semester, ENGR 103): 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
• Thursday (Fall Semester, ENGR 302): 4:00-5:00 p.m. preceded by refreshments at 3:30 p.m.

In addition to continuing the monthly seminar festivities, the Ecology Center has made good habit of documenting the talks of their speakers these last few years. The EC also hosts the archive for public viewing. Videos of the talks are usually uploaded 24-48 hours after being given, and are always freely available.
